🗺️ Shinbashi Enbujō

📝 Introduction

Located in Higashi-Ginza, a prestigious theater that hosts "Higashi Mai" performances every May.

📖 Details

The traditional performance venue that opened in 1925, known as the 新橋演舞場 (Shinbashi Enbujō), hosts a variety of performances including Kabuki, Shinpa, Super Kabuki, and modern plays. The entrance and lobby exude a prestigious historical atmosphere, while the interior is equipped with the latest systems to provide an immersive viewing experience. There are also specially made bento boxes and a cafeteria available for convenience during intermissions. The 新橋演舞場 (Shinbashi Enbujō) was originally established for Shinbashi performers to showcase their skills. The "東舞" (Tōbu) performances by Shinbashi artists offer a glimpse into the world of the geisha district, which typically does not cater to the general public, and are widely loved by audiences. Every April, a four-day "東舞" (Tōbu) event is held, which has now become a springtime tradition in Tokyo. The original building was destroyed during World War II, leaving only the exterior. It was later rebuilt and renovated, with the current structure being completed in 1982 (Showa 57). It retains the grandeur of the old performance hall's entrance and spacious seating, enhancing the audience's anticipation for the performances.
