Shinkamon Street is the main approach to Izumo Taisha in Shimane Prefecture. Stretching approximately 700 meters from the Uka Bridge Torii Gate to the Nezumida Torii Gate, this approach is registered as a national tangible cultural property. The street is always bustling with travelers visiting Izumo Taisha, creating a lively atmosphere. From the main gate of Izumo Taisha, you can enjoy beautiful views that can only be seen here, which is one of its highlights.
On Shinkamon Street, where the old and new coexist, there are as many as 60 shops lined up, making a leisurely stroll here a delightful experience. A must-try when you visit is the most famous dish in Izumo: "Izumo Soba." There are several renowned shops in the area, and it's nice to compare and taste from multiple places.
