Mochio Park is the only site in Miyazaki Prefecture selected as one of the "Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan," making it a great place for locals and tourists to relax. The park is home to approximately 2,600 cherry trees, including Somei Yoshino and mountain cherry blossoms, which bloom vibrantly from late March to early April, adorning the entire park with colorful beauty. One of the highlights is the cherry blossom tunnel along the 2-kilometer approach to the "Mochio Shrine" at the top of the hill, which is breathtakingly beautiful. From the "Mochio Shrine," the view of the cherry blossom trees below is spectacular, with a sea of soft pink blossoms as far as the eye can see. During the blooming season, the "Miyakonojo Mochio Cherry Blossom Festival" takes place, featuring folk art performances and stalls, creating a lively atmosphere. Next to Mochio Park is "Kumaso Plaza (くまそ広場)," which has large playground equipment suitable for young children and elementary school students. Every weekend, many families visit this area. The expansive grassy area is perfect for playing ball, badminton, and enjoying picnics on the laid-out mats. From the observation deck, one can see the misty mountain ranges in the distance.
