📖 Details

The temple "Jingguang Temple" of the Rinzai Zen Myoshinji sect and the surrounding vast park. Jingguang Temple was built in the 3rd year of the Kenmu era (1336) and features the main hall "Mui-den," constructed in the late Muromachi period, as well as the "Genkei-kōbyō," the mausoleum of Tokugawa Yoshinao, the first lord of the Owari Domain and the ninth son of Tokugawa Ieyasu, both of which are designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan. In spring, many Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms bloom around the Seiden Pond near the Hexagonal Hall in the park, making it a very popular cherry blossom viewing spot. In autumn, it is also renowned for its beautiful autumn leaves, with the historic buildings in the area framed by vibrant red foliage, creating a captivating scene. From the popular night view observation deck near the temple, one can enjoy a panoramic view of the autumn-colored mountains and the cityscape of Nagoya. Located in a corner of Aichi Kogen Quasi-National Park, although it is in the suburbs of Nagoya, the exceptional natural environment makes it a great place for walking or picnicking.
