⛩️ Tenzu Shrine
🎨 Shrine Gallery
📝 Introduction
The ancient shrine that is home to the legend of the Dragon God is also a well-known energy spot.
📖 Details
A small shrine located to the southeast of Jinrin Lake. It is said to have been built by Princess Hayatsu, who was commanded by Emperor Keikō, the twelfth emperor, to worship the ancestral deities. The main hall stands at the back of the lake, where the central deity, Tenzo God, is enshrined. To the right is the Yasaka Shrine, and to the left is the Konpira Shrine.
There is a stone torii gate on Jinrin Lake, and the scene shrouded in morning mist is filled with a sense of mystery. Additionally, the large cedar tree, revered as a sacred tree, is designated as a natural monument. The clear spring water that flows from the gaps in the stone walls and the uniquely designed temizuya (water purification area) are also worth seeing.
Tenzo Shrine and Jinrin Lake are associated with the legend of the dragon god. At that time, a dragon with nowhere to go made a wish to Tenzo God, hoping to find a place to settle. The dragon also promised to allow clear springs to flow in the area and to protect the land forever. Thus, Tenzo God reserved the present-day Jinrin Lake for the dragon. Today, there are still continuous springs flowing at the bottom of the lake and within the grounds of Tenzo Shrine, making it a renowned energy spot.
