⛩️ Weather Shrine
🎨 Shrine Gallery
📝 Introduction
The only one in all of Japan! Come to the shrine to pray for good weather, and your mood will also become refreshed and invigorated.
📖 Details
The only shrine in all of Japan that prays for clear weather. In conjunction with Japan's first meteorological observatory established on June 1, "Meteorological Memorial Day," the shrine holds its regular grand festival (Meteorological Festival).
The main deity enshrined is "Yahiko no Mikoto," who in ancient mythology brought the "sun" back to the world when it was engulfed in darkness. This embodies the belief that "praying for good weather is cherishing the time of this day," and it is revered by many people.
The history of the shrine dates back to 1944, when it was built within the Imperial Japanese Army Meteorological Department. Although the shrine serves as a spiritual refuge for the observers who make forecasts based on scientific principles, it was relocated to "Hikawa Shrine" in Koenji due to Japan's defeat in the war. After 55 years of relocation, in 2003, the shrine building was reconstructed due to its age.
When visiting, it is recommended to stop by the shrine office to obtain an amulet. The "Clear Weather Amulet," which prays for good weather and refreshes the spirit, along with various amulets featuring weather-related designs, make the best gifts for important people.
