🗺️ Xiaowutai (狭霧台)

Located at the foot of "Yufudake," formed by two mountain peaks, this observation deck on Prefectural Road 11 is famous for its scenic driving route. From an elevation of 680 meters, you can overlook the streets of Yufuin. Not only is the vast and magnificent view breathtaking, but the surrounding natural beauty is also worth seeing. In spring and summer, new green buds sprout, and wild birds chirp; in autumn, golden pampas grass sways in the wind; and in winter, the silent fall of pure white snow creates a dreamlike scene. The distinct beauty of each season captivates visitors. Especially on mornings when the temperature drops below zero, the entire basin is covered in a thick layer of fog, making it well worth getting up early to experience. On clear days, it is also the best spot for photographing the sunrise in the morning and the sunset in the evening. Although there is a bus stop nearby, the service is very infrequent, so it is recommended to drive or take a taxi to get there.
