The Kominato Railway is a north-south railway that runs through the central area of the Boso Peninsula. It stretches 39.1 kilometers from "Goi" station, which connects to the JR Uchibo Line, to its terminus at "Kazusa-Nakano" station. Passengers can ride the nostalgic "KIHA200" vintage trains, enjoying the scenic rural landscapes along the way, making for a charming little train trip filled with nostalgia.
The Kominato Railway also offers limited-date TOROKKO sightseeing trains. Originally used for transporting goods, TOROKKO trains are characterized by their lack of windshields (with some exceptions). The sightseeing trains are open-air carriages transformed from TOROKKO. These vintage trains, weaving through nature, transport passengers back to bygone days, with a refreshing breeze brushing against their faces.
In addition to regular tickets, various discount tickets are available at Kominato Railway stations, allowing travelers to choose based on their destinations. For example, the "1-Day Unlimited Ride Ticket" allows unlimited boarding and alighting at all stations along the Kominato Railway within a day, and the "Goi to Yoro Valley Round-Trip Discount Ticket" is convenient for visiting the famous scenic area of Yoro Valley and Yoro Valley Onsen. Additionally, there is the "Boso Cross-Section Commemorative Ticket," which allows free transfers between the Kominato Railway and the Isumi Railway. Throughout the journey, various original Kominato Railway merchandise can be purchased. Recommended items include keychains featuring the KIHA40 train and towels with the company name printed on them.
