📜 Content

La Collina Omihachiman is the flagship store of the TANEYA brand, a long-established dessert maker originating from Omihachiman in Shiga Prefecture. It is a facility where nature and gourmet desserts are perfectly integrated. Nestled in the lush hills at the foot of Mount Hachiman, the area features beautifully designed shops, including main stores for Japanese and Western pastries, cafes, a honey cake shop, a food plaza, and bakeries, resembling a fairy tale paradise filled with greenery. The most striking feature of the park is the building with a green grass roof, which houses the main store and serves as a landmark for La Collina Omihachiman. This was created through the collaboration of architect and architectural historian Terunobu Fujimori, TANEYA staff, volunteers, and local students. The first floor features a spacious atrium space filled with various shops selling Japanese and Western pastries. In the Japanese sweets section, you can find almost all products of the TANEYA brand. There is also a dessert workshop where you can watch pastry artisans from start to finish. The Western pastry area has a glass-walled workshop where you can closely observe the baking of the Baumkuchen. The second floor features a café where you can enjoy freshly baked Baumkuchen in an open and airy space. The honey cake shop is impressively constructed using over 100 chestnut tree trunks, giving it a unique appearance. Here, you can taste the honey cake, the pride of the third-generation owner, as well as the super fluffy and soft "Hachiman Honey Cake." This specialty dessert is a limited item exclusive to La Collina Omihachiman. Additionally, the Food Garage, designed in a semi-circular large garage style, is also worth exploring. Inside the building, there are various facilities including a gift shop, food plaza, and mobile kitchen, showcasing the latest challenges and various information about the TANEYA brand.
