📖 Details
Hagi City still retains its old street scenery and historical sites, and you can even stroll and explore according to ancient maps. Surrounded by two rivers, Hagi City is nicknamed the "City of Water," and you can enjoy this beautiful landscape from the rivers as well.
A boat ride of about 40 minutes departs from the Shimek Bridge next to the Hagi Castle ruins, heading towards the Hagi Castle Town, which is listed as a World Cultural Heritage site, and the preservation area of the important traditional buildings in Horiuchi. Upon entering the Hashimoto River, you will see Tokiwajima Island and the white walls of the Heian-era important traditional building preservation area, before turning back at the former Tanaka Villa. Next, you will visit Tamayoshi, one of the "Eight Views of Hagi," before returning to the starting point.
On clear days, the sightseeing boat will head directly out to sea, allowing you to enjoy the views of Kiku no Hama and the volcanic Hagi Rokudo Islands. While listening to the commentary at the bow of the boat, you can appreciate the special scenery that can only be seen from the sea.
Additionally, there are seasonal limited routes such as the cherry blossom viewing route in spring, the sunset viewing route in summer, and the autumn foliage route, allowing you to take in the beauty of the four seasons.
