⛩️ Naminoue Shrine
🎨 Shrine Gallery
📝 Introduction
A solemn shrine standing amidst the azure sea.
📖 Details
Named after the waves, the ancient shrine located on a cliff protruding from the azure sea is affectionately referred to by the locals as "Nanmin-san." The exact date of its establishment is unknown, but it is generally believed to have originated from the local people treating this place as a site for prayer, seeking blessings from the gods of the paradise "NIRAI-KANAI" across the sea for bountiful catches and abundant harvests. The red worship hall, filled with the Okinawan style and southern atmosphere, is a must-see highlight.
The main deities enshrined here are the Kumano Three Gods: Izanami-no-Mikoto, Hayatama-no-Mikoto, and Kotoshironushi-no-Mikoto. Because it enshrines the goddess Izanami-no-Mikoto, it is believed to bless those seeking good relationships and attract favorable connections.
The popular omikuji (fortune slips) are available not only in Japanese but also in English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese, making them well-loved by foreign travelers.
After your visit, take a stroll at "Naminoue Beach," where the shrine is located. There is an observation deck behind the beach that offers a serene view of the harbor.
