📝 Introduction
You can experience a dual activity that allows you to enjoy the sights of Osaka from both land and water in one go.
📖 Details
Once known as the "Water City," Osaka's waterways are well-developed, with a network of canals crisscrossing the city like a web. Although most of the waterways have been filled in, many rivers still flow around the urban area, forming a water corridor. At night, the bridges over the rivers and the buildings by the water are brightly lit, exuding a charming allure. The Osaka DUCK TOUR allows visitors to enjoy the beautiful scenery of "Water City Osaka" from an amphibious bus with open windows.
From March 20 to the end of November, the regular itinerary includes 45 minutes on land and 30 minutes on water. The winter itinerary from December to March 19 features 30 minutes on land and 30 minutes on water.
Departing from Kawano Station Hachikenya near Tenmabashi Station, you will soon see the "Osaka City Hall," the oldest building currently used as a government office in Japan. Next, you can view famous landmarks such as "Osaka Castle," built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1583. When the bus reaches Sakuranomiya, it will glide down a slope and splash into the Ōkawa River. Transforming into a sightseeing boat, the bus allows you to see the "Osaka Mint Bureau," known for producing the medals for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. If you're lucky, you might also catch a fountain performance at Nakanoshima.
During the tour, you will pass a spot where you can simultaneously see the "Tenmabashi," "Tenshinbashi," and "Nambabashi," known as the Three Great Bridges of Naniwa. Afterward, the bus will return to land and cross Japan's longest shopping street, "Tenshinbashi-suji Shopping Street," heading toward the destination. Depending on the water level of the Ōkawa River, the route may sometimes change to travel north along the river.
The Osaka DUCK TOUR offers a unique experience for visitors to enjoy the different charms of Osaka's streets from both land and water, making it a must-try. Additionally, the knowledgeable and humorous guides add to the appeal of this tour.
