🗺️ Shinbuzaki Coast

📝 Introduction

The Sea of Japan intertwines with steep cliffs, creating a magnificent landscape crafted by nature.

📖 Details

Under the tumultuous waves of the Sea of Japan, a cliff face extending up to 10 meters high has formed, historically known as a treacherous area that obstructed travelers, earning the nickname "the dangerous place of the world." Before the Meiji era, passing through this area required navigating the waves, making it a rather perilous route. The dangers of crossing the waves caused parents to forget about their children, and children to neglect their parents, hence the term "親不知、子不知" (neither parents nor children know). Now, there is a walking path where visitors can enjoy the magnificent beauty of nature as the Sea of Japan intertwines with the cliff face. The scenery at sunset is breathtaking. The majestic and spectacular landscape is sure to become an unforgettable memory of the trip. Summer attracts many tourists to the beach, so it is recommended to remember to bring swimwear. Nearby, there is the "Roadside Rest Station 親不知PIER PARK," where you can taste the famous "cod soup" and "anago (conger eel) soup" (available in winter). It sells fresh local seafood and is a great place to buy souvenirs.
