🗺️ Three sides and five lakes

The Sanpō-Goko lakes are located between Mihama Town and Wakasa Town in Fukui Prefecture. Situated within the "Wakasa National Park," they refer to the five lakes: Lake Sanpō, Lake Suigetsu, Lake Suga, Lake Hisako, and Lake Hinata, which have been designated as a national scenic spot. Lake Hinata, connected to Wakasa Bay, and Lake Sanpō, the most inland of the five lakes, feature different water qualities and depths, including freshwater, seawater, and brackish water. The water surfaces of the lakes also display varying shades of blue, earning them the nickname "Five Color Lakes." From the first parking area on the famous scenic route "Prefectural Road Sanpō-Goko Rainbow Road," visitors can take a chairlift or cable car to the mountaintop park, which offers a 360-degree panoramic view of the five lakes and the stunning scenery of Wakasa Bay. The park features sofa seating, foot baths, and a café, and the five terraces provide unique views that are not to be missed. Additionally, the park includes several attractions, such as a rose garden where beautiful flowers can be enjoyed every spring and autumn, and the "Bell of Happiness," which has been selected as a "Sacred Place for Lovers."
