🗺️ Shodoshima Yokai Museum

📝 Introduction

The old warehouse has been transformed into an art museum, showcasing three-dimensional yokai art.

📖 Details

The Yokai Art Museum is located near the famous tourist attraction "Angel Road" on Shodoshima, within the "Maze Town" filled with irregular alleys. It consists of four old buildings that showcase yokai art. In the four museums scattered throughout "Maze Town," there are 900 pieces of yokai art from around the world. In Museum 1, which has been converted from a kimono shop warehouse, you can find traditional Japanese yokai such as kappa, umibōzu, and nekomata. Some floors in the museum allow you to use a flashlight to illuminate and view the artworks. In Museum 2, converted from a soy sauce shop warehouse, the giant yokai that looks out through its nostrils is the most popular attraction. Museum 3 mainly features planned exhibitions, changing themes multiple times a year. In Museum 4, you can see ceiling paintings of yokai appearing in the dark of night, which are not to be missed. The exhibited yokai are frequently changed, so you can always enjoy a fresh experience no matter how many times you visit. After your visit, head to the "Yokai Bar," where it's recommended to order a yokai drink that comes with a talisman or fortune slip to take a break.
