🗺️ Ueno Park (Ueno Onshi Park) (上野公園 (上野恩賜公園))

📝 Introduction

The largest cherry blossom viewing spot in Tokyo.

📖 Details

Ueno Park, officially known as 上野恩賜公園 (Ueno Onshi Park), is under the jurisdiction of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and covers an area of approximately 530,000 square meters. With its vast space and long history, it is one of Tokyo's most famous attractions. The park's side entrance is conveniently located just outside the "Park Exit" of Ueno Station on the Yamanote Line. Especially renowned as a cherry blossom viewing spot in spring, Ueno Park attracts a large number of visitors from both Japan and abroad every year. The cherry blossoms are mainly concentrated along the park's main avenue, featuring about 800 trees, with a diverse range of varieties including Somei Yoshino (染井吉野桜), Yaezakura (八重桜), and Shidarezakura (枝垂桜). The undulating natural landscape of Ueno Mountain, along with the lush greenery around Shinobazu Pond (不忍池), creates a healing urban oasis. Additionally, the expansive grounds are home to Ueno Zoo, museums, and art galleries, making it an ideal place for families and couples to enjoy a full day's worth of activities.

⭐ Highlights

The Bu Ren Pond is divided into three areas: the "Boat Pond," where visitors can experience rowing, pedal swan boats, and take a lake tour boat; the "Lotus Pond," covered with lotus leaves; and the "Cormorant Pond," where cormorants are raised. Every spring, around 800 cherry blossom trees bloom around Park Avenue, making the area vibrant and colorful. Flower viewing guests come in a steady stream, creating a lively atmosphere. The park also features various cultural facilities, including a zoo, museum, and art gallery.
