Mount Myoko, located to the southwest of Niigata, is known as "Echigo Fuji." The Myoko Kogen area is situated on the eastern slopes of Mount Myoko. At an elevation of 600 to 1,300 meters, this spectacular volcanic foothill region features the historic Akakura Onsen, which has a history of over 200 years, along with seven hot spring towns including Myoko Onsen, where visitors can enjoy views of Mount Myoko, and six ski resorts that boast some of the highest snowfall in Japan. Myoko Kogen is part of the "Myoko-Togakushi Renzan National Park," home to a variety of flora and fauna, and offers stunning mountain scenery throughout the four seasons. In spring, visitors can hike in the fresh highland air; in summer, they can enjoy mountain climbing; in autumn, they can admire the beautiful fall foliage; and in winter, skiing is available for everyone from beginners to seasoned experts, attracting a large number of tourists year-round. There are also other sightseeing spots nearby. The "Salamander Pond," where the majestic ridges of Mount Myoko are reflected on the water's surface, and the "Myonami Waterfall," known as the "Earthquake Waterfall," are both worth a visit. The area is also a well-known villa region, allowing visitors to enjoy refreshing and relaxing moments in a highland resort setting.
