Driving along National Route 325 from Yamaga City towards Minami Aso, you will see three buildings with melon-shaped roofs. This is the "Roadside Station Shichijo Melon Dome," a rest area that sells a wide variety of local specialties from Shichijo Town, attracting over a million visitors each year. The best-selling item here is the sweet melon, which has passed strict sweetness tests with a sweetness level exceeding 14 degrees. From late March to mid-December, three varieties are available in succession, including "Higo Green" and "Aruzu Melon." In addition to melons, the facility offers fresh agricultural products produced in Shichijo Town, such as seasonal fruits, vegetables, rice, and tea, along with a variety of processed foods like pickled side dishes, fruit jellies, and various sauces. In the restaurant, you can taste Nagasaki Champon noodles made from 100% Shichijo rice flour, as well as set meals where you can choose your side dishes. For takeout, there are many options including freshly squeezed fruit juices made from fresh fruits, soft serve ice cream, and various types of bread.
