📖 Details

Located in the Aobayama Lake area, the Ryugandou Cave is a limestone cave formed approximately 250 million years ago in the strata. This is the largest stalactite cave in the Tokai region (Aichi, Gifu, Mie, and Shizuoka Prefectures), with a total length of about 1,000 meters, of which 400 meters are open to visitors. Over the long years, the cave has formed stalactites that can be considered natural art, enveloping the space in a mysterious atmosphere. The "Golden Waterfall," with a height difference of 30 meters, and the "Phoenix Chamber," where stalactites hang down like crystal chandeliers, present breathtaking scenes that change as you walk through. The cave maintains a constant temperature of about 18°C year-round. It is warm in winter and cool in summer, allowing for a comfortable underground adventure in any season. The cave's information center features many three-dimensional models and detailed information about the cave. Additionally, don't miss the Italian ice cream shop, which has been voted the number one "must-try ice cream in Shizuoka" by Shizuoka Prefecture bus tours.
