⛩️ Haneda Shrine
🎨 Shrine Gallery
📝 Introduction
It is said that there is an ancient shrine with a long history that can bless travelers with safety.
📖 Details
An ancient shrine said to have been built 800 years ago during the Kamakura period. Today, Haneda Airport is also located within the shrine's parish area, making it highly revered by various airlines and aviation professionals. Throughout the year, many people visit to pray for safe operations and aviation safety. The ema (votive tablets) feature illustrations of airplanes flying over the torii gate, which are quite popular among worshippers.
The deities enshrined here are "Susanoo no Mikoto" and "Inada-hime no Mikoto." Since two divine figures representing a married couple are worshipped, many visitors also come to pray for "good relationships" or "victory."
One of the must-see highlights is "Haneda Fuji," located near the main hall and standing about 5 meters tall. As the name suggests, Haneda Fuji is a small mountain made from volcanic rock from Mount Fuji, created in the early Meiji period to resemble Mount Fuji, allowing pilgrims to make wishes here without having to travel to the actual mountain. Inside the mountain, there are enshrined figures such as Daikokuten and the Haneda Fuji komainu (guardian lions), designated as cultural assets of Ota Ward.
The summer grand festival (Haneda Matsuri), held in the last week of July each year, is also not to be missed. The magnificent portable shrine, carried by over 3,000 people, uses the unique fishing village method of "YOKOTA," mimicking the swaying of boats in the ocean, making it a sight worth seeing.
