⛩️ Kogane Shrine

📝 Introduction

It is said to be a shrine that can bless you with good fortune, ward off misfortune, and increase your wealth.

📖 Details

Founded in the first year of Bunsei (1466), the Koshin Shrine stands in the bustling Ningyocho area, which has long been home to many restaurants and offices. The shrine survived the Tokyo air raids during the war; additionally, all soldiers who carried the shrine's protective amulets during World War II returned safely, earning it a reputation for being able to "bestow good fortune and ward off misfortune," and it is widely revered by the public. The main deity enshrined is Ichikishimahime no Kami, who, like Benzaiten, is regarded as a goddess of wealth and prosperity. In front of the shrine's left side, there is a "money-washing well" and a statue of Ichikishimahime no Kami, known as the "Benzaiten of the Ten Thousand Blessings" standing on a boat. It is said that purifying money with the well water and placing it in one's wallet can increase wealth and prosperity, and it is now respectfully referred to as "Tokyo's Money-Washing Benzaiten," held in high esteem. To the left after passing through the torii gate, there is a "Fukurokuju statue" with a healing smile, which is prayed to for health, longevity, and various virtues such as human virtue, fortune, and wealth. Visitors often touch the statue's head to seek blessings. The protective amulets are designed with symbols of good luck such as dragons, horned owls, and turtles, and various exclusive offerings made from real cocoons are also very popular. The shrine is bustling with visitors seeking to increase their financial luck and enhance their fortunes.
