🗺️ Miana Waterfall

The famous waterfall located on the "Sekikawa" at the border of Niigata and Nagano Prefectures is listed as one of the "One Hundred Famous Waterfalls of Japan." The water cascades down from a height of 55 meters, and its sound is like thunder, which is why it is also known as the "Earthquake Waterfall." In ancient Japan, earthquakes were referred to as "Nai (なゐ)," and it is said that the name "Naenataki" (苗名瀑布) evolved from this. Especially in spring, when the snow melts and creates a large flow of water, the waterfall becomes even more spectacular. The surrounding area offers beautiful seasonal scenery, including autumn leaves and fresh greenery in early summer. The cool summer is also worth a visit. There is a trail nearby that takes about 15 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the observation deck. The area is also the starting point of the "Myoko Kogen Nature Trail," which is listed as a forest therapy trail and is a great base for mountain hiking. Additionally, at the entrance of the trail, there is a famous shop offering refreshing cold noodles, as well as a store selling ice cream topped with ingredients like blueberries and raspberries.
