Sada Shinkabashi is a bridge that spans the Shimanto River, known as "Japan's last clear stream," which boasts pristine water quality and abundant water flow. The term "Shinkabashi" refers to a type of bridge designed without railings to prevent it from being washed away during high water levels, giving the appearance of sinking into the water. Between the stone piers, one can observe the lifestyle of the local people who coexist with nature rather than suppressing it. The scenery of the Shinkabashi spanning the majestic Shimanto River is a symbol of the area. Although there are many Shinkabashi bridges crossing the Shimanto River, the most famous among them is Sada Shinkabashi. It measures 291.6 meters in length, with its distinctive blue piers. Vehicles cannot pass each other on the bridge, so please be especially cautious when crossing. Canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, and rafting are popular water activities on the Shimanto River, making it a paradise for water sports.
