🗺️ Kurenaiha

📝 Introduction

A gallery and café operated by a long-established kimono shop, where you can experience authentic Kaga Yuzen kimonos.

📖 Details

The art gallery and café "Kyurenba" is located in a corner of the famous tourist spot, Higashi Chaya District. The first floor is an art gallery displaying and selling goods made with Kaga Yuzen, as well as crafts by local artisans; the second floor features a café with a view of Higashi Chaya District. Operated by the long-established kimono shop "Eritora (ゑり虎)," founded in the 5th year of the An'ei era (1776), it not only displays and sells various goods but also offers kimono rental services, allowing visitors to experience authentic Kaga Yuzen kimonos (starting from 5,500 yen for 1 hour). You can choose your favorite floral pattern from about 10 kimonos, and staff will assist you in getting dressed before you take a leisurely stroll through Higashi Chaya District. Although reservations are required a day in advance, it is considerate that if there are available slots, services can be provided on the same day. *Kaga Yuzen is one of the traditional crafts representative of the Kanazawa area, characterized by its vibrant and elaborate patterns of flowers, birds, and seasonal scenery. Additionally, on the second floor café, you can enjoy snacks served during events like grand tea ceremonies, including seasonal sweets from the wagashi shop "YoshiHASHI," established in the 22nd year of the Showa era (1947), along with matcha sets (800 yen) and hot-pressed sandwiches (600 yen) among other light meals.
