📖 Details

The "Yanagibashi Central Market," renowned as the largest private central market in the country, serves as the "kitchen of the Tokai region." The Marunaka Food Center (マルナカ食品センター) is the heart of the Yanagibashi Central Market. Since its opening in 1969, it has been positioned as a wholesale market for business use, providing carefully selected ingredients for various types of dining establishments, including sushi shops, traditional Japanese restaurants, and hotels. Particularly, the fresh seafood caught from the Chita Peninsula, Mikawa Bay, and Ise Bay, such as sea bream, yellowtail, Japanese sea bass, and abalone, is sold live, ensuring exceptional freshness. Here, you can purchase the freshest ingredients at wholesale prices to meet the needs of general customers. Market tours are held irregularly on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, led by the president himself, who explains various aspects of the food center while allowing for shopping. In recent years, several dining establishments have been added within the food center, where you can enjoy lunch or dinner. There is a wide variety of options, including sushi, tempura, pasta, and bars.
