📝 Introduction
Visit the historically significant shrine and gain energy from the sacred tree that is over three thousand years old.
📖 Details
Takeo Shrine is located at the eastern foot of Mount Mifuneyama and has a history of 1200 years. The main deity, Takeuchi no Sukune, is well-known as the god of longevity in Japan and is said to grant wishes for military success, good fortune, and the removal of misfortune.
From July to November, on weekends from sunset until 10 PM, the "Takeo Light Pilgrimage," a night illumination event at famous spots in the city, takes place, with Takeo Shrine being one of the illumination venues. Limited-time amulets are also sold at the shrine during this period.
Under the divine power of Emperor Chūai and Empress Jingu, the intertwined roots of the couple cypress trees are a must-see attraction. Visitors can pray not only for romantic relationships but also for connections with others, work opportunities, and financial fortunes, attracting many travelers to worship. The seasonal goshuin (temple seals) are also quite stylish and well-received.
One cannot miss the "Takeo Great Camphor Tree" when visiting Takeo Shrine. Walking towards the bamboo grove behind the shrine, you will find the 3000-year-old camphor tree, which stands 27 meters tall and has a trunk circumference of 26 meters, ranking seventh among Japan's giant trees. The hollow area inside the trunk can accommodate 12 tatami mats and is home to a deity.
⭐ Highlights
It is said that one can gain magical powers from the vibrant "Takeo Great Camphor Tree." You can also receive seasonal goshuin (temple stamps). There is a heart-shaped stone buried next to the couple's cypress trees, so why not come and look for it? From July to November, the shrine has nighttime lighting on weekends.
