⛩️ Tamatsukuri Onsen Shrine
🎨 Shrine Gallery
📝 Introduction
A popular shrine known for its energy that makes wishes come true and helps in forming good relationships.
📖 Details
The ancient shrine recorded as "Tamatsukuri Yusha" in the "Izumo Fudoki" is located deep within the Tamatsukuri Onsen area, which has a history of 1300 years. During the Edo period, it was revered as the god of hot springs by the public. It is said that the lords of the Matsue domain often visited the shrine to pay their respects while staying here to enjoy the hot springs.
As the area is known for its magatama (curved jewels), the shrine enshrines "Kushimikatama no Mikoto," the god of jewel-making who created the "Yasaka no Magatama," one of the three sacred treasures, as well as "Oonamuchinomikoto" and "Sukuna Hikona no Mikoto," the deities who guard the hot springs discovered in Tamatsukuri.
The red bridge leading to the shrine is known as the "Koi-naru Bridge" (Love Come True Bridge). It is said that taking a photo with the torii gate in the frame will attract good relationships, making it a very popular photo spot. Behind the shrine, there is a "Mamatama (Wish Stone)," where it is believed that if you place a natural stone purchased from the shrine office on the Mamatama and make a wish, it will come true. Next to the Mamatama, there is a "Gomori Stone" made from blue agate, which is said to provide protection when touched.
Additionally, there is the Tamatsukuri Ruins, designated as a national historic site, which preserves magatama and over 700 artifacts in a repository modeled after ancient dwellings. Within the grounds, there is the Yuhime Daimyojin, the deity who blesses safe childbirth, beautiful skin, and child-rearing, along with adorable parent-child komainu (guardian lion-dogs), indicating that many people come to pray for safe delivery and the protection of children.
