🗺️ Tenmatenjin Hanjotei
🎨 Attraction Gallery
📝 Introduction
Every day, various rakugo performers, from young people to seasoned masters, perform in the small theater of "Kamigata Rakugo."
📖 Details
Tenmatenjin Hanjotei opened in 2006 with the help of donations from the public, located within the grounds of Osaka Tenmangu Shrine. It is a small theater that showcases "Kamigata Rakugo" (a style of Rakugo primarily associated with the Osaka and Kyoto regions).
Lanterns are arranged not only on the ceiling inside the theater but also on the exterior walls. Daily performances include a midday show that rotates weekly and an evening show that changes daily. In addition to novice Rakugo performers and seasoned masters, there are also performances known as "Iromono," which include magic and manzai. The evening also features solo performances and shows by disciples of famous Rakugo masters.
Currently, daytime performances are also streamed live online, allowing audiences to enjoy Rakugo performances from home. Additionally, on weekdays, groups of over 100 can make reservations for a "Kamigata Rakugo Experience Program," which offers insights into Japanese Rakugo culture through explanations and live performances.
Nearby attractions include Osaka Tenmangu Shrine and the longest shopping street in Japan, Tenjinbashi-suji Shopping Street, making it a great place to explore before or after enjoying a show.
