🗺️ Uji City Genji Monogatari Museum

The "Tale of Genji," written by Murasaki Shikibu during the Heian period, is a literary classic that has been passed down for a thousand years. The Uji City Genji Museum is a public museum themed around the "Tale of Genji." It introduces the "Uji Chapters," set against the backdrop of Uji, and the main character, Hikaru Genji, in a concise manner through models and images. The image exhibition room features original video works produced by the museum. In the image exhibition room, three works are screened in rotation. "Floating Boat" explores the world of the "Uji Chapters" with the floating boat as the main character, "Bridge Princess: The Thoughts of Women" depicts the love stories of the "Uji Chapters" from the perspective of the bridge princess, and "GENJI FANTASY: The Cat Falls in Love with Hikaru Genji" tells the story of a modern high school girl who travels back in time to the Heian period and meets Murasaki Shikibu. In addition to the permanent exhibition, there are also special exhibitions that delve into the "Tale of Genji" and the Heian period. The museum houses over 4,500 volumes, allowing visitors to enjoy the pleasure of reading and step into the world of the timeless classic, the "Tale of Genji."
